President Trump travels to the Mexico border today. AP Correspondent Matt Small reports.
"President Trump vistis the US-Mexico border during a trip to California today. He's threatening to put tariffs on vehicles imported from Mexco if that country doesn't do more to stop migrants heading to the United States."
Meanwhile the ACLU has gone to court to try to block the president's border wall. The ACLU argues the President is overstepping his authority by diverting money from the Department of Defense for the border wall.
We don't know yet why an ex-convict falsely claimed to be an Illinois boy who disappeared 8 years ago. According to authorities, the FBI has declared Brian Rini's story a hoax after DNA testing. Aurora Illinois police spokesman, sergeant Bill Rowley.
"Well I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that this appears to be either a hoax or some person that's obviously lying about who he was."
Authorities are not saying whether Rini will face charges he had identified himself as Timmothy Pitzen who vanished 8 years ago at the age of 6 after his mother killed herself.
Attorney General William Barr is defending his handling of the Muller reports. The Justice Department has released a statement defending Attorney General William Barr's handling of special counsel Robert Muller's report on the Russia investigation. The statement says in part that the Muller report contains sensitive Grand Jury material that can not be immediately released to the public. Barr has come under fire from congressional Democrats for issuing a 4-page-letter summarizing Muller's nearly 400 page report. Barr has informed members of Congress he intends to release the entire report with redactions by mid April. Mike Gracia, Washington.
Joe Biden makes his first public appearance today since several women accused him of making them uncomfortable by touching them. This is AP Radio News.
It now appears that sensors malfunctioned on both Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft that crashed overseas recently killing hundreds of people. Boeing acknowledges that the sensor malfunctioned on the Ethiopian airlines jet and CEO Dennis Muilenburg says a new software update will now prevent the problem in the future. He says they wanna make sure that the system is designed to keep the aircraft from stalling. A system called MCAS doesn't inadvertanly activate.
"Pilots have told us erroneous activation of the MCAS function can add to what's already a high work load environment. It's our responsibility to eliminiate this risk. We own it and we know how to do it."
Actor Jussie Smollett is refusing to pay more than 130,000 dollars to the city of Chicago. Reimbursement for investigating what the city says was a staged racist attack he says was pulled off against him. I'm Rita Foley. AP Radio News.
