Former Vice President Joe Biden is in the race for the White House.

"Today I'm announcing my candidacy for President of the United States."

In a Twitter video, he said if Americans give President Trump 4 more years, it will be disasterous.

"We give Donald Trump 8 years in the White House, he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation."

So how many Democrats are in the race now? AP correspondent Washington Sagar Meghani is doing the counting. It's now at 20. A diverse group including 6 women and 5 people of color. Biden's move is considered the final major piece as donors and others pick their favorites. His high-profile makes him a front runner but his age and moderate track record will raise questions in a more liberal modern Democratic party.

A front runner or the front runner? We just asked professor Chris Galdieri, an expert on presidency.

"In polling for the last year, so despite all these other candidates getting in, Biden has generally led the pack where somewhere between 25 and 35% percent of the vote."

A spokeswoman for former President Barack Obama this morning says choosing Joe Biden as his running mate in 2008 was one of the best decisions he ever made. Meanwhile President Trump doesn't sound worried, saying yesterday Democrats can't beat him in 2020 so they keep opening investigations of it.

"The only way they can luck out is by constantly going after me on nonsense."

 

Russian President Vladimir Putin's been talking with North Korea's Kim Jung Eun and says Pyongyang is ready to move toward the nuclearization but it needs security guarantees first.

 

The number of measles cases is higher than it's been in 25 years, almost 700 cases as parents turn against vaccines due to misinformations says the CDC. This is AP Radio News.

 

Sadly the search for a missing 5-year-old boy outside Chicage is over. Andrew AJ Freund parents reported him missing last week.

"Please pray for the safe return of my son."

Crystal Lake police chief James Black says evidence was presented to the boy's parents including a shovel and mattress. They provided police with the location.

"Investors located what they believed to be AJ's body buried in a shallow grave wrapped in plastic in a rural area of Woodstock Illinois which is not far from the family's home."

 

The parents each face 5 counts of first degree murder. Early on police didn't believe the boy was kidnapped. The chief had a message for AJ.

"We know you're at peace, playing in heaven's playground and are happy you no longer have to suffer. I'm Ed Donahue.

 

A New Orleans teenager has been accepted to a 115 colleges and universities. Antoinette Love was offered almost 4 millions dollars in scholarships. She says she will make a decision in May. Rita Foley, AP Radio News.
