There doesn't seem to be a new threat but the Pentago is rolling out a plan this morning that would deploy thousands more troops to the Middle East.

The Defense Department is set to reveal plans to the White House aimed at sending as many as 10,000 more American troops to the Middle East in an effort to better fend off potential Iranian threats. On Tuesday, defense leaders told congressional officials that the U.S. doesn't want to go to war with Iran and wants to de-escalate the situation. But many in congress are skeptical of the Trump administration's approach, questioning whether it's responding to significant nuclear threats or escalating a situation that could lead to war. A tornado crashed into Missouri's capital Jefferson city overnight, tearing apart buildings and knocking out power. Part of a system of storms that have been plaguing the mid-west for days. Our David Lieb's in Jefferson city.

"I'm standing outside a convenience store right now where the metal roofs were blown in on a car. The sign outside was twisted and bent perpendicular. And metal from the building was littered across the street."

Nobody died in Jefferson city but police lieutenant Dave Williams says they wanna make sure everybody is accounted for.

"We're trying to identify the people that need our help the most but at the same time we're trying to identify all people that need our help."

 

The acting FAA adminstrator Daniel Elwell says public confidence in Boeing 737 Max jet maybe is shaken after 2 deadly crashes overseas but he says he believes that will eventually change. He says people eventually will get back on the plane.

 

5 dogs will be put down after they killed a 14-year-old Massachusetts body who regularly took care of them. A local official said it's the right thing to do but it was a tough decision. The dogs were 4 Belgian malinoises and a Dutch Shepherds. This is AP Radio News.

 

Tesla's new automatical lanes change feature appears to have flunked the consumer reports test.

Tests by consumer reports on Tesla's new navigate on auto pilot, automatic lane change feature are raising new questions about Tesla's auto pilot system. Consumer reports testors say the system cuts off other cars when changing lanes without leaving enough space. Consumer reports VP of advocacy David Friedman says Tesla is showing what not to do on the path towards self-driving cars. Friedman is a former acting administrator with the National Highway Traffic Safety administration. Tesla's CEO Elon Musk is on records as saying the company will have fully self-driving vehicles ready sometime next year. I'm Mike Gracio.

 

Baltimore's mayor's office says the city's IT team is restoring computer system slowly now to make sure they're secure after a crippling ransomware attack. Hackers want $76,000 but the mayor says Baltimore's not gonna pay ransom. Rita Foley, AP Radio News.
