Amid shake-up at the Department of Homeland Security, Democrats are rolling out their own immigration plan. The bill which lawmakers say still being worked on aims to boost federal resources at border entry points for processing refugees, counseling children and treating people needing medical care. It would create centers in cetral america where asylum applications could be processed and provide aid to reduce poverty environments in the region so fewer people would flee. AP Correspondent Matt Small in Washington.
A day after telling lawmakers that he will likely to release the redacted version of the Russia report within a week. Attorney General William Barr returns to Capitol Hill today.
"I'm relying on my own discretion to make as much public as I can."
Barr goes before a Senate subcommittee today to talk about his department's funding but there will be questions about the Russia report. Top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell.
"I trust the Attorney General to give us all of the information that we need without revealing classified information."
But top Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer says.
"We've heard reports in the media from some people on Muller's team that he didn't portray the report fairly. We'll wait to see the report but color me dubious that he's going to be fair unless he proves otherwise."
Democratic presidential candidate Bunny Sanders rolls out his Medicare for All plan today. He wants to eliminate private health insurance.

Pittsburgh's gotten new gun laws after a violent episode last year left 11 people dead. Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto says the community has come together to say "enough is enough" as he signed gun-control legislation and reponse to the massacare at the tree of life synagogue that killed 11. The new law restricts military style assault weapons like the AR-15 rifle that authorities say was used in the rampage. It also bans most uses of armor-piercing ammunition and high-capacity magazines but since Pensylvania law prohibits local regulations of guns and ammunition, a coalition of gun rights groups filed a lawsuit minutes after the bills were signed. The University of South Carolina will award a posthmous degree to its student police say was murdered after getting into a car she believed it was her Uber ride. Samantha Josephson was 21 years old. Her parents will attend what-would-have-been her graduation.
